Matthew John Holden

Matt is a graduate of New Bern High School in New Bern, NC. Following graduation, Matt attended East Carolina University in Greenville, NC where he earned a degree in business and finance. It was in Greenville, NC where he began what would be a successful career as a Sales Representative with Atlantic Coastal Supply, taking him to Columbia, SC for many years, before ultimately moving back to Greenville in 2021.

Matt was an incredibly kind and compassionate individual, with his quiet demeanor not to be outdone by his desire to make others laugh at his jovial humor. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing golf, watching his favorite sports teams, fishing at the coast, and was an avid guitar player and music enthusiast. In his youth, Matt was often found surfing the gentle waves at North Carolina beaches.

He is survived by his mother, Catherine C. Holden of Fuquay-Varina, NC, brother Jeffrey R. Holden (Kati) of Holly Springs, NC, and nieces Chandler and Reese Holden. He is also survived by his grandmother, Patti S. Crawford of New Bern, NC; as well as many cousins, aunts, and uncles. He is preceded in death by his father, John R. Holden.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 3rd, 2024, at 11:00 am at the Cotten Funeral Home Chapel in New Bern, NC. Following the service, a reception will be held for family and friends at New Bern Golf and Country Club, Trent Woods, NC.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Matthew Holden’s name to the American Heart Association.
