So sorry to read of Pat's death! Oh! As a new  bride I was so blessed to have Pat, Mary & Keith and Lucille & Loren for neighbors. Doug & Buzzy both grew up in Spring Garden  and I know it was gods plan for us to be neighbors. Those were the days of unlocked doors, borrowing a cup of  sugar and visiting almost daily. Pat was a wonderful person in my life.  Visiting her in New Bern in the summers meant getting up early, her driving me and my cousins out to the tobacco farm so we could work and earn money all before she went to work, be there to pick us up in the afternoons and then go home and cook dinner for us.   Aunt Pat was our connection to the ocean since she lived so close.  I always remember visiting her as a small child along with my Grandmother and parents.  We would drive for hours to get to her house.  She was an excellent cook and I will always remember how I loved eating her meals of sea foods and fresh vegetables.  I looked forward to her visits with us in the mountains.  She brought fun, excitement and wonderful laughter to our lives.  She visited us in Oregon several years ago and I was glad she got to come here.

My sympathy and prayers are with my Uncle Doug, Dougie, Randy and Gwen, the grandchildren and great grandchildren.  I know she will be missed by all of us that knew and loved her.  God bless her family.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Pat's family and friends.

I can't find the words to express what miss pat meant to myself and my family. She was like a second mother to me. Growing up she got me out of many difficult situations and always with a smile on her face. We would have a good laugh and wait for the next time. When I applied to East Carolina she was  there to type my application. She even came to Chicago to visit me. We kept up over the years. I was in New Bern last summer and went to visit her in the nursing home. As usual , she greeted my sister Barbara and I with a smile.
 I will always cherish that visit with her even though no words were spoken. Miss Pat was also very special to my parents, Mary and Keith Bowen , and my sister Barbara Hardy. We have lost a true friend but will forever hold her in our hearts!

Our hearts go out to all Pat's family.  We have great memories from Employment Security Commission connection when you children were growing up.  Pat was special.  May you find comfort from family and friends.
