Paul Elvin Overton

Paul, “Opa” is survived by his wife of 63 years, Irmgard Overton; two sons, Robert Overton (and his wife Mona) of Greenwood, Indiana and James Overton (and his wife Mary) of Montgomery, Alabama; grandchildren, Amber, Heather, Alyssa, Paul, and Elizabeth; and his sister, Janice Gluth of Brownsburg, Indiana; and several nieces and nephews.

He cared deeply for his extended family in Germany and his friends in the community in which he spent the last 46 years of his life.

Paul retired from the United States Air Force and Civil Service. After retirement, he had the joy of tending to his family farm in Salem, Indiana, where he was born and raised. He had a great love and passion for the outdoors which was expressed not only through his farming but also on the golf course.

The funeral service will begin at 11 am on March 19, 2026, at Cotten Funeral Home in New Bern. Following the service, there will be military honors. The family will receive visitors with a light lunch and then proceed to St. Joseph Cemetery for burial at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Craven County Hospice at 2818 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, NC 28562.
