Born on November 3, 1932, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, Peter pursued a lifelong love of learning and achievement. He earned a bachelor’s degree in literature and music from Williams College, a Juris Doctor (J.D.). from Harvard University, and a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in international law from Georgetown University.
His distinguished career began at the Securities and Exchange Commission in Washington, D.C., followed by work in corporate law in Miami and Denver, before he established a private law practice in Denver.
Outside of his professional life, Peter was an avid sailor, bicyclist, and a voracious reader. His curiosity, passion for knowledge, and adventurous spirit enriched both his life and the lives of those around him.
Peter is survived by his wife, Katherine Ann Hansen Adolph; daughter, Jo-Ann Adolph McIntosh; son-in-law, Brian Scott McIntosh; son, Aljon Lee Wilt Adolph; daughter Alexis Rose West Brinkley Collins; grandsons Duncan Harris and Nolan Michael McIntosh; and nephews, Jack and Ben Adolph and Steven Kirsch. He was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Adolph, and sister-in-law, Rheba Judith Adolph.
At this time, no memorial service is scheduled. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made in Peter’s name to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society at www.nationalmssociety.org. For over a decade Peter rode the Colorado MS 150 Bike Ride, raising funds and promoting awareness for research and therapies for people living with MS.
Peter will be remembered as a devoted husband and father, a brilliant mind, and a man who lived with both integrity and curiosity. His love and legacy will remain with his family and friends forever.
Cotten Funeral Home is honored to serve the family and friends of Peter Joseph Adolph.
