She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church. She enjoyed playing cards, crossword puzzles and dancing.
Renate is survived by her two sons, Raymond Solomon Samia of Pollocksville and Richard Allen Samia of Grifton; one daughter, Martha Scott of Merritt; one brother, Gerhardt Jakel of Germany and one grandchild.
Private services will be held at a later date.
