Rennie Estelle Killingsworth

She was born on May 11, 1931, in Belhaven, North Carolina, to David Samson Foster and Ruth Wilkins Foster.

Rennie was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who devoted her life to her family. She gave up a career in federal service to become a full-time mother and homemaker.

Rennie was dedicated to her community, always encouraging her children to be active and engaged members of their community. Deeply involved in her church, she served as secretary/treasurer and as a leader in Vacation Bible School. She was also active in the public schools her children attended, serving as a classroom mother, assisting teachers, and substituting when needed. She served for years as a Girl Scout leader and cookie chairperson. She faithfully provided transportation for the children to and from church, school, and scouting activities.

When her children reached middle and high school age, Rennie returned to school at Craven Community College. She re-entered the workforce and later retired as the first mortgage loan officer at Cherry Point Federal Credit Union (now known as First Flight Federal Credit Union).

Rennie lived a full and active life marked by grace, dignity, and respect for others. Her memory lives on in those who knew her best and loved her most.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ruth Wilkins Foster and David Samson Foster; her brothers, Hilton Samuel Foster and Charlie Franklin Foster; and her sisters, Sadie Foster Prue, Nora Foster Braddy, Georgia Celeste Foster Brand, June Foster Prue, and Elizabeth “Betty” Foster Kirk.

She is survived by her husband, James “Pete” Killingsworth; her children, Kathy Killingsworth Fuller (Wade), Lorraine “Lorrie” Killingsworth Hutchens, Brenda Lou Killingsworth, and Glenda Killingsworth Farrell (Frank); her grandchildren, Cindy Fuller Lewis (Adam), James Potts, John Potts, Jennifer Potts Quinn (Ethan), Daniel Farrell (Ewelina), Jacob Kleckley (Katie), and Sarah Kleckley; and one great-granddaughter, Audrey Marie Lewis. She is also survived by two siblings: sister Elaina Dee Foster (Silas) and brother Ernest Floyd Foster.
