Born in Indiana in 1973, Ricky called Eastern North Carolina his home for most of his life. He was an avid motorcyclist with a soft spot for his dog, Jaxx, and a fondness for apple pie. Ricky knew no strangers and was a friend to all, and whether he was fixing your car or your deck, he did it with a smile on his face and a mason jar in his hand.
Ricky was preceded in death by his mother Virginia Ann McCoy.
Left behind to clean out the garage, move the ‘Vette, and clean the pool are Ken “Crash” Lester and Sharon Allen of New Bern, sister Meloney, her husband Chip, his niece Kayla and nephew Kevin of New Bern. His half-brothers Steve Lester of Hazel Green, Alabama and Roger Lester of Michigan. Ricky greeted first grandchild in October, Dakota, born to his daughter Andrea of New Bern. He also leaves behind two step-children: Branden Moore and Khalie Carroll.
A viewing will be held at Cotten Funeral home on Friday, November 28th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral will take place in the chapel of Cotten Funeral Home on Saturday, November 29th at 11 a.m., with burial to follow at New Bern Memorial Cemetery. Ricky would not have wanted anyone to wear a suit to either one, but all are welcome to come as they are. Friends are invited to attend an after party in celebration of Ricky’s life, love and friendship at the Wave Bar and Grille on S. Glenburnie Rd in New Bern, immediately following the funeral.
In lieu of flowers, Ricky would like you to have a shot of Crown.
