Richard John Schutta

Schutta was a member of Calvary Baptist Church. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran and retired diesel mechanic.

Schutta is preceded in death by his parents John and Martha Schutta and his wife Florence Josephine “Jo” Schutta.

He is survived by his son Robert “Pete” Schutta of New Bern; his daughter Vicky Toler of New Bern; his sisters Vernadene and Jermaine of Minnesota; three grandchildren Amber Banks, Douglas Schutta, and Allen Schutta; four great-grandchildren Joshua Banks, Noah Banks, Brayden Schutta and Camden Schutta; and many loving family members.

The funeral service will be Friday, December 19, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Cotten Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Thursday, December 18, 2014 from 6-8 pm at Cotten Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenleaf Memorial Park with U.S. Navy Honors.
