

He was born in Cushing, Oklahoma August 20,1932 as a twin boy. His twin died at birth. He was named after his father.
He graduated from Oklahoma High School Honor Society May 19, 1947. Given a certificate of proficiency at Ft. Bliss ROTC Camp in 1953 and became Second Lt. US Army Reserve and promoted to Captain for 6 months in El Paso, Texas. He graduated from University of Oklahoma in 1956 with a BA degree in Architecture. Bob started his architectural career in Kansas City working for the firm of Kivett and Meyers. He then started a new firm with two friends and managed this firm, Jackson, Smith and Davis for a number of years specializing in health care projects. This specialization ultimately led him to Washington, DC in 1965 where he became a consulting architect for Friesen International. At that time, he was the world's foremost hospital design consultant. With Friesen International, Bob was instrumental in helping generate new and innovative health care design concepts. In 1968, he started a new architectural practice based in Northern Virginia and was a Founder and president of Davis, Carter, Scott, Inc. Architects and Interior Architects, currently with offices in Tyson's Corner, Virginia and Washington, D.C. His firm grew to 120 staff members. The firm still carries his name today and has been responsible for many health care projects across the country and in Europe. Under his management, the firm Davis, Carter, Scott diversified into many other areas of architectural design including schools, jails, hotels, retail and many fortune 500 companies. He retired to live with his wife Glenna in New Bern, North Carolina in 1998. His past Civic Activities include: Founding Director of Reston Civic Association President, Hickory Cluster Home Owners Association; Reston, Va. President, Twin Mill Home Owners Association; Oakton, Va. Founding Director and President of Potomac Savings and Loan Association Director, Fairfax County Public Schools Education Foundation To Date, retired in 1995 after 27 years with Davis, Carter, Scott, Inc.; moved to Fairfield Harbour with wife Glenna. He was a member of POA sign committee; Chairman of the Community Center Expansion Committee; Rear Commodore of the Fairfield Harbour Yacht Club.
He is survived by his wife Glenna L. Davis; daughter Mary Elizabeth Davis, Minneapolis, MN.; daughter Martha L. Davis Price, Orange, California; daughter Margaret Ann Davis, Baltimore, Md.; son Robert K. Davis, Bristol, Vt., son Hugh Harris Davis} Leesburg, Va., 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
A memorial service will be held at Christ Episcopal Church at a future, date. Instead of flowers, memorials may be made to Christ Church, or United Hospice Agency, New Bern, 633-4311.Burial will be made at Floral Hills Cemetery in Kansas City, Missouri at a future date.
