

He is preceded in death by his parents Norman and Jean Adams.
He is survived by his sister, Susan Adams of Manchester, NH; his brothers, Russell Adams of West Warwick, RI; David Adams of Greenville, NC; and Michael Adams of Jacksonville, FL. He is also survived by four nieces and three nephews.
Roy graduated from New Bern High School and attended Craven Community College. He was a faithful member of New Bern Church of Christ and loved his church family. He worked at the New Bern Walmart for 13 years, where he loved both his Walmart Family and his customers.
He was an avid sports fan and followed the Atlanta Braves and the Boston Red Sox, the New England Patriots, and the Carolina Tarheels. He loved taking vacations and visiting sporting Hall of Fame locations around the country. He also was a fan of professional wrestling and dreamed of someday meeting his favorite wrestler, Dusty Rhodes. He also loved science fiction and named his two beloved dogs, Captain and Riker, after Captain Jean Luc Picard and William T. Riker from one of his favorite shows, Star Trek: The Next Generation.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at Cotten Funeral Home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 12, 2022 at the Greenleaf Memorial Park Lakeside Chapel.
