Sam Bryant Ives, III

Sam Bryant Ives, III, age 74, of Trenton, North Carolina passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2023. Sam was born in Lenoir County, North Carolina to Sam Bryant Ives, Jr. and Bertha May Fordham Ives.

Sam was a very dedicated and loyal serviceman who made it his life's mission to serve his country and community. Sam enlisted in the Air Force in 1971. He served his country as a firefighter and was honorably discharged. After serving his country Sam began a long very well respected career with the Jones County Sheriff's Department in 1988. After 24 faithful years of service Sam retired in 2012. His service careers included many titles: firefighter, deputy sheriff, correctional officer, and landscaper.

Even though Sam thoroughly enjoyed his life's work serving his community he also spent time volunteering. He trained military personnel hand to hand combat and in his spare time he earned a black belt in martial arts. Out of everything his life had to offer there was nothing he loved more than God and fishing. Any time Sam could spend on the water catching fish he was there and if he was not there he was at church.
