Sarah G. Burton

She was a member of Christ Episcopal Church. She loved to write, taking several creative writing classes. She wrote a novel and a play and also a script for the Roseanne Barr Show. Sarah loved to entertain, especially her husband's teaching colleagues. She also had an interest in family history, antiques and politics.

Sarah is survived by two sons, Robert C. Burton, Jr. and wife Jean of Phoenix, AZ, and their 2 children; Richard V. Burton and wife Susan of Portsmouth, VA; one daughter, Marcia A. Hadley and husband Bob of New Bern; two sisters, Betty Hamilton, and her children, Michael, Cheryl and Deborah, Jean Meador and her children, Linda, Karen and Jennifer, all of Richmond, VA. She was predeceased by her husband of almost 45 years Robert C. Burton, Sr., two sisters Mary and Marjorie and two brothers Charles and George.

Visitation will held from 6:00-8:00 pm Thursday, June 6, 2013 at Cotten Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, June 7, 2013 at the funeral home.
