Thomas Martin Maher

Thomas Martin Maher, 88, of Riverbend in New Bern, North Carolina, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 14, 2023. Thomas was born at Mount Holly Hospital in Burlington County, New Jersey on August 27, 1934 to Elmer and Mary Goheen Maher.

His Christian faith was very important to Tom. He was a member Tabernacle Baptist Church, in New Bern, North Carolina. He was a master carpenter and general contractor for more than 40 years in New Jersey before retiring to New Bern. Tom worked very hard for his family, building the family home and a business. He specialized in restoring historical buildings and hand-crafted detail. Everything he built was solid. He used his carpentry skills to help others. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, and classical music.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 66 years Dolores Maher, three daughters; Donna Bishop of Cinnaminson NJ, Sharon Mortimer of Riverside NJ, Jeanne Anderegg of Sterling VA, eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank Bob and Sandra West, and Tabernacle Baptist Church for their help and kindness over the years. The family will celebrate Tom’s life in New Jersey.
