

Virginia Gayle Wagner McGregor, 95, of New Bern, North Carolina passed away at her home on Saturday, August 24, 2024. She was born on July 21, 1929 in Scranton, Pennsylvania to the late Stanley Winfield Wagner and Lucy Gayle Bolling Wagner.
She was a wonderful mother who gave her children a great foundation in life. She volunteered as a Grey Lady, as a Stephen minister, and she facilitated Al-Anon groups. She was very creative and worked on many painting, sewing, quilting and knitting projects. She was a faithful Presbyterian whose devotion to serving her Lord was exceptional. She will always be remembered as lively, kind, generous, and intelligent with a wonderful sense of humor that stayed with her until the end.
In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her husband Robert Francis McGregor, sister Elizabeth Cierech, step children Michael McGregor, Joyce McGregor, and Steve Foley, and great granddaughter Kristen Lee.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children Gayle Warner (Russell), Leo Warner (Keiko), Melissa Warner (John Buchta), Jim Warner (Katherine), Robert Styron (Becky), and John Styron (Jenesa), three stepchildren Sharon Foley, Mary Sanders (Mike), and Laura McGregor (Guy), seventeen grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, and a great great grandchild.
The family would like to express a special thank you to the dedicated caregivers Hiawatha, Candle, Nyoka, Crystal, Bobbie, and Donna. Their deepest gratitude is extended to Sharon, Mary, Laura, and their families who loved and cared for her as their own mother.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her honor to the Craven Pamlico Animal Services Center, 1639 Old Airport Road, New Bern, NC 28562.
A celebration of life for Virginia will be held Friday, September 20, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Cotten Funeral Home, 2201 Neuse Blvd, New Bern, North Carolina 28560. A reception for family and friends will follow the service. She will be laid to rest with her husband at Greenleaf Memorial Park Cemetery.
