Born in Lyndhurst, N.J. on November 14, 1926, Alfred Frank Haas passed away on October 19, 2015 in New Braunfels, Tx. He grew up in Corpus Christi, Tx, joined the Navy in 1944, and was stationed in Saipan and Tinian Islands during WWII. After the war, he returned to Corpus Christi where he lived until retiring from the Nueces County Auditor’s office. After retiring, he and wife, Betty moved to Canyon Lake and then to New Braunfels where they were members of First Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Rose Haas; and sister, Eleanor Logan. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Betty Zimmerman Haas; children, Douglas Haas, Herbert Haas, Sharon Pope, Debbie Daniel (Rusty Daniel), and Rebecca Pope; grandchildren, Savanna Haas, Chelsea Hass, Elliott Ross, Ellen Slugg and Byron Slugg.
A Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 5-9pm at Zoeller Funeral Home, with the family present from 5-7pm. Interment will be Friday, October 23, 2015 at 10:15am at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Tx.
