Alton E. Schwarz

Alton E. Schwarz, 92, of New Braunfels passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Kirkwood Manor. He was born to Herbert Schwarz Sr. and Frieda (Weller) Schwarz in Wilson County, Texas on July 24, 1947. Mr. Schwarz proudly served his country during WWII in the US Air Force. He worked for many years at the Airmaid Hosiery Mills in New Braunfels, Alamo Iron Works, Bock Motor Company and finally as a mechanic/wrecker driver at Becker Motor Company until his retirement in 2001. He was a member of the VFW Post # 7110 New Braunfels and a lifelong member of First Protestant Church. Alton was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Irene; and his three brothers, Elo, Milton, and Herbert, Jr. He is survived by his son, Bruce and wife Shannon of New Braunfels, daughter, Patty Schwarz and husband Kelly Jackson of Wichita Falls, Texas; four grandsons, Bruce Landon, Justin, Taylor and Alex. The family wishes to thank Hope Hospice, Dr. Lynn Thompson and office staff, The nursing staff at Kirkwood Manor, the Doctor’s and Staff at Central Texas Medical Center in San Marcos, New Braunfels Rehabilitation Hospital, the Staff at Brookdale Assisted Living in San Marcos, and to the special friends that were always there for him on a daily basis; especially Ewald and Evelyn Haas, Bill Kennedy and everyone else who has ever shown him kindness.

Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Wednesday at Zoeller Funeral Home and continue 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 15, 2015 at First Protestant Church New Braunfels with Reverend Daryl Higgins officiating. Interment will follow in Comal Cemetery.
