Ann Adele Haynes Tubbs was born September 16, 1942 to Jack and Margaret Haynes in Duncanville, Texas. Ann married Charles Gordon Tubbs, MD April 20, 1968 at the First United Methodist Church in Duncanville, Texas. They retired to Canyon Lake, Texas in September 2005. She quietly passed away Saturday, January 4, 2014.
Ann graduated from Duncanville High School in 1960. She received a nursing diploma from the Methodist Hospital/SMU School of Nursing and later a BSN from Texas Christian University. She taught nursing in Galveston and in Dallas. She later attended the University of Houston and completed her formal education with a PhD. in Human Development & Communication Science from the University of Texas at Dallas in May 1990. She was certified as a Rehabilitation Counselor and was designated a Fellow of the American College of Forensic Examiners in February, 1996.
Ann enjoyed being with family and friends. She was ordained as a Deacon at First Presbyterian Church in Garland where she was active in local and foreign mission activities. She was subsequently a member of Bethany Presbyterian Church in Dallas, First Presbyterian Church, New Braunfels and Canyon Lake Presbyterian Church. In retirement she took pleasure in many types of music, bird watching, nurturing native plants, participating in projects of the Lindheimer Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists and supporting and beautifying the Tye Preston Memorial Library in Canyon Lake. She helped others as a CASA Court Appointed Special Advocate. She and Charles took great pleasure in their five acre property in the Texas Hill Country which was recognized as a Backyard Wildlife Habitat by Texas Parks and Wildlife with additional recognition from the National Wildlife Federation.
Ann was preceded in death by her father, John Andrew (Jack) Haynes and mother, Mae Margaret Rittenberry Haynes. Survivors include her husband Charles Gordon Tubbs, MD; daughter Karen Brooks MD and her husband Mark, grandsons Dylan and Casey Brooks; sisters Mary Beth Mayo and Carolyn Carpenter and her husband Bobby; sister-in-law Elisabeth Schmalstieg, and many beloved uncles, aunts, cousins, nephews and nieces.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 P.M. January 18, 2014 at Canyon Lake Presbyterian Church, 230 Shepherd Hill Dr., Canyon Lake, Texas 78133, followed by a reception. Internment of her ashes will be at a private service at the church’s columbarium
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the Canyon Lake Presbyterian Church, to the American Kidney Foundation or to or a charity of your choice.
