Arnold Don Feltner passed away peacefully on June 8, 2014 after a long bout with cancer. Arnold Don was born on August 25th, 1949 to Arno and Dorothy Feltner in New Braunfels, Texas. Arnold married his wife, Sharon (Fauset), on March 5th, 1975 – and on June 19th 1981 they were blessed with their only son, Jason.
Through the years, Arnold worked at Baenziger’s Model Market, Safeway Foods, A&P Grocery and HEB. He worked much of his adult life at New Braunfels Utilities, where he retired in 2007. Though he let few people know, Arnold was a talented artist. He enjoyed pencil drawing, a talent which he inherited from his father – and then passed along to his son. He also enjoyed photography and took thousands of pictures at special events throughout his life. He had a love of gardening and once told his family that if he had his way he would “love to be buried in his yard” next to all of the flowers and plants he had nurtured for so many years. Once his health started to decline he enjoyed playing the video game “Minecraft” on his X-Box.
Arnold was preceded in death by his grandparents, his father Arno Feltner in 1970, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins on both sides of his family. He is survived by his loving wife of over 39 years, Sharon; his son and best friend Jason, his mother and father Dorothy and Melvin Fetters, one sister Lisa Brucks and her husband Ken, one niece Lauren and her husband Brian Saunders, one nephew Blaine Brucks, as well as his beloved dog, Pepper. He also leaves many aunts, uncles and cousins.
There will be a viewing at Zoeller Funeral Home on Thursday, June 12th from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. The family will be available during that time as well. It was Arnold’s wish to be cremated and there will be a private service for his family only, some time after his cremation.
Arnold’s family would like to thank the staff at Cancer Care Center of South Texas as well as the staff at Bank of America, where Sharon works, whose love and support were so important and meaningful during Arnold’s final days. The family is at peace knowing that Arnold is now tending to the beautiful flowers in the Lord’s garden.
Arrangements under the direction of Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX.
