Carlos Arturo Rodriguez, known affectionately as Turo, Arthur, Art, and Artie, was born on July 15, 1958, in San Antonio, Texas. He passed away unexpectedly on January 9, 2026, in New Braunfels, Texas, where he called home for the past 40 years.
The youngest of five children, Arthur was the beloved son of Alejandro “Alex” Rodriguez and Maria del Refugio “Cuca” Rodriguez.
San Antonio was Arthur’s home from birth through young adulthood, where he was surrounded by family and lifelong friends. Inspired by the beauty shop his mother owned and operated from the family home, he went on to build a successful career in the beauty retail and distribution industry. His professional journey began in San Antonio and led him through College Station and Austin before he permanently settled in New Braunfels in the late 80’s. There, alongside his then wife, the late Christina Enneking, they opened and operated a beauty supply shop, The Beauty Plex, which became both a livelihood and a reflection of their hard work and commitment to their community. The business operated successfully for nearly three decades. After he sold The Beauty Plex, Arthur retired and worked part time in Canyon Lake. He would frequently travel to San Antonio to spend time with family and friends. During this time he also shared a devoted 25-year relationship with his beloved partner, Diane Ackers, who preceded him in death in 2024. Although Arthur never had children of his own, he became a cherished presence to Diane’s two sons, Lonnie and Chance, with whom he shared a close and loving bond.
Arthur was known for his joyful spirit and gentle presence. His warm smile, quick wit, and infectious laugh had a way of brightening a room. He possessed a lighthearted sense of humor that brought comfort, laughter, and a sense of connection to family and friends alike. With his approachable demeanor and gift for easy conversation, Arthur formed many friendships wherever he went, many of which endured throughout his life. Arthur’s frugal nature was often a topic of fond conversation. He found deep satisfaction in simplicity, valuing purpose over excess, and took great pride in living a practical life.
Above all, family was the heart of Arthur’s world. He placed deep importance on staying connected and never missed a family gathering, celebration, or milestone. Whether big or small, he showed up consistently, always present for the moments that mattered most. His devotion to family was unwavering, and his presence will be deeply missed.
Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Alejandro and Maria del Refugio Rodriguez, whose love, guidance, and strong family values shaped the man he became. Their influence remained with him throughout his life. Arthur is lovingly remembered by his siblings and their families. He is survived by his siblings Alex Rodriguez Jr., his wife Aurelia, Cecilia Rodriguez, Yolanda San Martin, her husband Dr. Jorge San Martin, and Lena Rodriguez, all of whom shared a lifetime of memories, love, and an unbreakable family bond. A devoted uncle and great-uncle, Arthur took immense pride in his extended family and found happiness in those relationships. He leaves behind many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, each of whom brought him joy, laughter, and purpose. His legacy will live on through the many lives he touched and the family he held so close to his heart.
A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, February 15, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Hall, located at 1114 Willow Street, San Antonio, Texas 78208. In lieu of flowers, Arthur would have wanted us to save our money, and instead, make a toast with your favorite beverage to celebrate life and share a laugh in his memory. He would have loved that.
