Bernice is preceded in death by her parents; her husband Kerwin; her son Keith Weinheimer and her brothers Roger Kierce and Anthony “Tony” Kierce. Bernice and Kerwin were married on May 4, 1957 and celebrated 61 years of marriage until his passing in October, 2018. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Cheryl Mathis and husband Jack; daughter, Renee Hawkins and husband Ron; Jill Peake and husband Ben and many grand and great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Dorothy Engelken and husband Edward and sister-in-law, Patty Kierce. And last but not least, her beloved dog Zelda.
Bernice graduated from Providence High School in San Antonio, Texas. She worked for Noble and Associates for many years until her retirement. Bernice was a member of the Catholic Daughters Society for Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in New Braunfels, Texas. Bernice loved life! She was the best wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was the “Rock” of our family and was always present in all of our lives. To us, she was known and went by “Neecee”. She enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping, but most of all, she loved going to the coast and spending time on the beach. She was the sun worshiper! She was an avid fan of football. The Dallas Cowboys and Aggies were her teams and there wasn’t a time that she missed watching a game! She was an avid follower of Fox News and you weren’t allowed to change the channel, if you did, she knew and wanted it changed back! Her house, her rules. She was the “Corn Hole” queen alongside her best friend Emma at The Blake where she lived for four years. Mom and Emma were known at The Blake as Thelma and Louise or better yet, double trouble! We would like to thank her caregivers at both The Blake (Tiffany) and Willowbrook Personal Care Home (Lynn, Mike, Neida, April, Brenda and Karen) for taking such good care of our mother.
Mom, we will always love you and you will be greatly missed. You can finally rest in peace now as you are in Heaven with our Savior Lord Jesus Christ.
Until we meet again, Gig’em Aggies Mom!
