

Billy J. Tiller was born to Ullie and Alta Mae Tiller in Prairie Lea, Texas on August 23, 1928. He departed from this life and went home to be with the Lord on June 12, 2016. He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Lemmie Maddox Tiller; a son, Bill Tiller and wife Anne of San Antonio; a daughter, Gayleigh Cotnam and husband Mark of Austin. There are four granddaughters; Kate Cotnam, Everlee Cotnam, Catherine Huddleston and husband Ben, and Rebecca Tiller; one great grandchild, William Hollis Huddleston. He is also survived by two brothers, Jerry Tiller of Luling and Lamar Tiller of Pearsall and a sister, Dorothy McMahan of Weimar.
Billy was a graduate of Prairie Lea High School. He also attended University of Texas, Southwest Texas State University and Southwestern Seminary in Fort Worth. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University.
Before he surrendered to God’s call to the ministry, he was Civilian Budget Officer at Bergstrom AFB. He was also a professional rodeo contestant. He pastored churches in Lockhart, Buda, Bartlett, Temple and Uvalde. He also served as Associate Pastor for 21 years at Oakwood Baptist Church, New Braunfels. He was a humble servant who felt that if any good came from his life the Lord deserved all the credit.
A memorial service will be held at Oakwood Baptist Church on Saturday, June 18th at 11:00am. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Oakwood’s Building Fund, 2154 Loop 337, New Braunfels Texas 78130. Arrangements under the direction of Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX.
