children of Claude and Ora Lee. Charlie was raised on a small farm outside of San Augustine with his
brother, Albert and sister, Sally.
Charlie joined the Army right after high school, then moved to Houston to live with his brother Albert
until Albert’s death at the young age of 43. He worked hard all his life as part of the ground crew for
major airlines including National, Pan Am, Continental and retiring from United.
Charlie was a very gentle, kind, quiet man. He never married or had children but was very much loved
by his family. Charlie enjoyed gathering for family meals and loved being around all the kids even
though he never had his own.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother and sister. He is survived by nephew Earl Barber, nieces
Gwen Gemmer and husband Don, Claudia Owens and husband Joe, cousin Susan Cario and husband
Peter. He is also survived by great nieces and nephews and great, great nieces and nephews all of
whom adored him and will sorely miss his sweet soul.
The family is extremely grateful for the kind and loving care provided by the staff at Eden Hill Assisted
Living Community these past few years.
