

Dean Herbert Raymond passed into the arms of the Lord Sunday, June 6, at the age of 84. He was born in Winfield, Kansas, on July 24, 1925 to Earl Herbert and Valeeta Faye Raymond. Dean proudly served in the U. S. Navy as a Radarman Second Class with service assignments at San Diego, California, Barbers Point, Hawaii and Newport, Rhode Island from July 1943 to March 1946. After the Service, he moved back to Oklahoma where he met and married the love of his life, Lillie Lorene Hood. Dean graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a degree in Petroleum Engineering in 1951. After graduation, he began his career with Schlumberger and moved to Texas. He retired from Schlumberger in August 1982 and began private consulting until 1987 while living in Tyler, Texas. In 1991, he moved to New Braunfels until his recent death. Dean and Lillie celebrated 62 years of marriage. Dean was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He cherished his friends from past to present and was loved and respected by all who knew him. Dean loved to hunt and lived to play golf with all of his friends. He had a tender heart, and appreciation for the beauty of nature and a wonderful, witty personality. His greatest joy was the love he had for Lillie and his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. No father will ever be more loved, respected or missed than this “Angel on Earth”.
Dean was proceeded in death by his father; Earl Herbert, his mother; Valeeta, his brother; Robert Earl and his loving wife; Lillie Lorene.
He is survived by his three daughters; Shari Lynn Baumann (Frank), Rani Kay Vickers (Michael), and Kali Lee Long, Six Grandchildren; Jennifer Schulze (Adrian), Trey Baumann (Megan), Brian Vickers, Brandon Baumann (Michelle), Piper Baumann and Lucretia Long, and Six Great-Grandchildren; Braxton, Calli, Avery, Dean, Brenley and Grant.
The family would like to extend a loving invitation to greet his friends at their home at 409 West Tanglewood, New Braunfels, Texas on Saturday, June 12, 2010 from 2:00 p. m. To 5:00 p. m. The family will be having a private Celebration of Life at a later date. Arrangements are being made by Zoeller Funeral Home.
