

Edilia L. Olvera of Pasadena, Texas went to be with her Lord and Savior peacefully surrounded by her family on January 11, 2018 at the youthful age of 71. She was born in New Braunfels, Texas to Eustacio and Virginia Luna on October 28, 1946. From the day that Edilia met George, she called him “Sweetness” and loved him eternally. On September 1, 1962 they were married in New Braunfels, Texas and made a beautiful life together, a life worth living, a romance that lasted 55 years. Together they attended the Mexican Bible Institute in San Antonio, Texas and she always supported George who became a pastor. In 1968, they relocated to Pasadena, Texas.
Edilia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She loved gardening to include her favorite flower the “Red Rose”. Her Christian life was as beautiful as the flowers that she loved so well and her influence will forever remain in the lives of those who knew her. She had a love for music and enjoyed playing her piano. She was married to George for 55 years and together they proudly raised their two sons Elias and Moises. Edilia will be cherished and remembered by her family for being “the greatest mom”, “tower of strength”, a woman of perseverance, strong will and a fine example of a Christian woman.
Edilia was preceded in death by her parents, Eustacio and Virginia Luna; brother, Eustacio Luna Jr.; and sister, Emilia Davila. She is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, George Olvera; son, Elias Olvera and wife, Andrea of New Braunfels, TX; son, Moises Olvera of Houston, TX; sister, Estella Garcia and husband Romulo of New Braunfels, TX; 4 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends at the public visitation held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 5:00 – 8:00 pm at Zoeller Funeral Home. The Graveside Service will be Friday, January 19, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park, 2951 TX-46, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
