

The eldest son of the late Pablo and Victoria (Leos) Caballero, he was born on July 7, 1929 in Kingsbury, TX. At a young age, his family relocated to New Braunfels, TX where he attended Churchill School, an early 1860’s Comal County rural schoolhouse, which is now part of the Heritage Village. He soon met his wife of 62 years, Amparo (Valdez) and shared their life’s adventures together to raise a family filled with precious memories of happiness and wonderful togetherness. He was employed at Mission Valley Textile Mills, Dittlinger Roller Mills and retired from U.S. Gypsum Co. as a heavy equipment operator. He loved fishing, dominoes and baseball, which he was involved in as a Little League coach and a Babe Ruth league coach in the 60’s and 70’s. He coached the Atlanta Braves during his retirement, but from the comfort of his easy chair in his sports den. Francisco will be always be remembered for his kindness, generosity and total dedication to family. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Bernarda and his beloved wife, Arparo (Valdez).
He is survived by his daughters, Victoria Ortiz (Louis), Rosalinda Mesa (Armando), Theresa Ann Caballero; sons, Pablo Caballero (Lupe), Francisco Jr. (Angelina); fourteen grandchildren; twenty four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by a sister, Guadalupe Cantu (Ramon); brothers, Roman Caballero, Fulgencio Caballero (Maria) and Reyes Caballero (Felipa). The family extends their appreciation to the ER and ICU staff, especially ER Dr. Moore and ICU RN Janet Moreno from Christus Santa Rosa, New Braunfels, TX for the professionalism and compassionate care given to our beloved father, during his brief stay.
Visitation will begin at 8:00 a.m. Sunday at the Zoeller Funeral Home and continue until 9:30 a.m. Monday. A rosary will be recited Sunday evening at 7:00 p.m. in the Zoeller Funeral Home chapel. A procession will depart the funeral home on Monday, April 4, 2011 at 9:30 a.m. for a 10:00 a.m. mass at the Holy Family Catholic Church. Interment will follow in the Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
