

Genaro C. Medina, Sr. of New Braunfels, TX passed away on Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital New Braunfels. He was born to Martin Medina and Maria (Contreras) Medina in New Braunfels on December 2, 1943.

Genaro, Sr. was a wonderful man who provided for his family. He was a loving husband, wonderful father, grandfather, a great uncle, brother and friend. He was employed as an appliance technician at Sears for 30 years and will be remembered as a great man of wisdom who had many hobbies. He enjoyed being in his garden, fishing and also had a great passion for music and playing guitar. He enjoyed his retirement years by going on trips and spending time with his family. Everyone knew he loved to BBQ and those who had the privilege of getting a taste; know that he smoked the best briskets ever. He will be best known for loving his San Antonio Spurs and truly being one of the best Dallas Cowboy fans ever. He will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife, Dora Medina; daughter, Sylvia Johnson; son, Genaro Medina, Jr. and wife Liz and son, Adam Medina all of New Braunfels; sisters, Rita Montañez of New Braunfels and Martina Ortiz of San Antonio; brother, Fred Medina of Brownfield, TX; grandchildren, Stephen Johnson and fiancee, Tiffany Dillard, Joseph Medina, Sarah Medina, and Ashley Medina; in-laws, Joe and Stella Flores and many more in-laws; and numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Monday, February 2, 2015 at Zoeller Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue 8:00 AM Tuesday morning at Zoeller Funeral Home until 9:30 AM when the service departs in procession to the church. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Reverend Camillo Botello, MSF- Celebrant. Interment will follow in Comal Cemetery.
