
Jack Coleman Crawford II, 74, of Canyon Lake, Texas peacefully passed away, Thursday evening, April 4, 2024 in the hospital from complications of Congestive Heart Failure. He was born on October 18,1950 in Houston, Texas. He graduated from Spring Woods High School in 1967 and began college at The University of Houston. Shortly thereafter, Jack joined the United States Army and served as an Air Traffic Controller in Grafenwoehr Germany. His love of country and support of veterans is a core value he carried throughout his life. After completing his service, Jack completed his degree in Business Administration from the University of Houston. Education was another important cornerstone of Jack’s life. His sharp mind, wit and conviction allowed him to skillfully navigate through friendly debates and instigated lively conversation.
Jack is preceded in death by his loving parents, James A. Crawford and Elsie Mae Bourque Crawford, grandparents, Pierre & Edia Bourque, James Alexander Crawford Treva Marie Crawford, along with his wife of 40 years, Sherry Holloway Crawford, and grandson, Travis. He is survived by his daughter Pamela Jane Crawford-Wilson, grandson, Canon, devoted companion Barbara Gay Penton Crawford Hughes, stepdaughter Kelly Goleman, granddaughters Kristen and Sherry Jo, sister Yvette Crawford Hallonquist, nephew James Hallonquist, and niece Lauren Hallonquist.
Jack enjoyed a long and successful career in the construction procurement industry, working on assignments all over the country. Jack also enjoyed managing the Katy, Texas location of Boot Town where he met many celebrities and made lifelong friendships. He also enjoyed establishing booths at outdoor markets to sell his hand made jewelry, Barbara’s artwork, and other wares. He enjoyed interacting with the general public and striking up friendly conversations.
Jack had many interests which he enjoyed throughout his life. He loved ‘good music’ , tracking back to his youth seeing many groups in Houston before they made it big. He played the guitar, banjo, piano, harmonica, just to name a few of the musical instruments he enjoyed. He enjoyed surfing in the Gulf of Mexico and as far away as Morocco. He also held a strong connection to his Cajun/Acadian heritage as well as the Scottish roots. Jack was an excellent cook who loved to entertain and share a gumbo or other delicious meals. Jack will be greatly missed and will be remembered forever by his loved ones.
In honor of his service to our country, a graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 25 at 9:30 am at the Houston National Cemetery 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038 with a celebration of life gathering to follow.
