Jane Heinemeyer LaBarr of San Antonio, TX passed away and went home to her Heavenly Father on January 2nd, 2018 at the age of 76. She was born to Percy Heinemeyer and Viola Boenig Heinemeyer in Seguin, TX on June 27th, 1941 and had an older brother, Ralph Heinemeyer. Jane grew up in New Braunfels, TX and graduated from New Braunfels High School in 1959. In 1962 Jane married David LaBarr, and in 1969 they had a son together, Craig LaBarr. She and David later divorced and Jane remained unmarried while she raised her only child, Craig. Jane graduated from Durham’s Business College and had a successful career in Federal Civil Service working for Randolph Air Force Base, Internal Revenue Service, Regional Post Office, and finally Fort Sam Houston where she retired in 1994.
Jane had an affection for all animals and wildlife, but she especially loved her dogs. She was a member of the World Wildlife Fund and cared deeply about wildlife preservation. Jane was also an avid gardener and once won “Best Cut Flowers” at the Comal County Fair. Her patio was a tropical oasis filled many types of exotic flowers. Some of her social activities included bunco with her girlfriends, and participation in a bowling league. Jane also loved to travel while her health allowed it, and she visited many states across our great nation including Hawaii. She also traveled abroad to Europe, but her dream vacation would have been Australia and/or New Zealand.
She is preceded in death by both of her parents, Percy Heinemeyer and Viola Boenig Heinemeyer Karstetter; and her brother, Ralph Heinemeyer. She is survived by her son Craig LaBarr and wife Cynthia LaBarr; grandchildren, Ashley LaBarr and Arron LaBarr; step-grandchildren, Benjamin Jenney and Alyssa Jenny; sister-in-law, Donna Heinemeyer; niece, Anna Hill; nephew, Brett Heinemeyer; aunt, Myrtle Huebinger; and numerous cousins, including Tina Rotterman who was very helpful in caring for Jane when her health started to decline.
A Celebration of Life gathering for family and friends will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels, TX on Friday January 12th at 11:00 a.m. An inurnment ceremony will follow at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park. Flowers are welcome to be sent to Zoeller Funeral Home, and donations can be made to World Wildlife Fund on her behalf as an alternative.
