

Laura “Jane” Taber, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away peacefully on November 23, 2024, in San Antonio, Texas at the age of 66. Born on May 10, 1958, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Jane lived a life rich with love, laughter, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends.
Jane is survived by her devoted husband, Jack Taber, who stood by her side through life's many adventures. Her legacy continues through her cherished children: daughter Christy Hyde and her husband Jason, and son Terry "Bubba" Medders and his wife Nicole. She also leaves behind her beloved stepchildren, Tammy Taber, Elizabeth Lauber and her husband Mitch, and Timothy Taber. As a proud grandmother, Jane’s love extended to her grandchildren: Skyla Hays, Audrey Hays, Colton Medders and his wife Morgan, Tyler King, Avery Mcintosh, Talan Medders, Kannon Hyde, Kenzie Hyde, Reese Taxton, and Kyndal Hyde. Her joy was further multiplied by her great-grandchildren, Weston and Charlie Medders. Jane is also survived by her sisters, Teresa Dockery, June Ellis, and Connie Reeder. She was preceded in death by her mother, Vilma Beatrice Lowery, and her sister, Sara Madison.
Jane dedicated many years of her professional life to AT&T, where she worked with diligence and commitment until her retirement in 2019. Her retirement marked the beginning of a new chapter, fulfilling her dream of residing in Spring Branch, Texas. Known for her adventurous spirit, Jane had a passion for travel and a deep love for football, particularly her admiration for J.J. Watt. Her spirited discussions on politics were a testament to her vibrant personality and keen intellect.
Jane found immense joy in the simple pleasures of life. She cherished moments spent on her back porch, feeding the animals, listening to music, and savoring a glass of wine. Her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love for her family were the cornerstones of her life, leaving an indelible mark on all who knew her.
Jane’s legacy of love and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends. Her memory will be a guiding light, reminding those she left behind of the importance of love, family, and living life to the fullest.
A celebration of Jane’s life will be held in Houston, Texas, at a later date, where family and friends will gather to honor and remember the remarkable woman she was.
