Marjorie Neal Weatherly Kues, age 86, passed away August 30, 2010. She was born in San Antonio December 21, 1923 to Luther Weatherly and Joanna Barr. She was a graduate of Brackenridge High School and Southern Methodist University.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar Kues and her brother Harold Weatherly. She is survived by son, Glenn Kues and daughter in law Susan Kues and grandchildren Darcy and Christian Kues, all of New Braunfels. While working at the Ft. Sam Houston “Quartermaster Corp” after World War II she met her soul mate Oscar, an Army officer recovering from combat wounds at Ft. Sam. Shortly thereafter Marjorie began her real career as a wife, mother to Glenn and caretaker of Harold. Always willing to give of herself, Marjorie played piano at churches in both San Antonio and New Braunfels, and for many years at Eden Hill Communities, the place she spent her final days. She cared for everyone but no one more than her family. Her long marriage to Oscar was one anyone would wish for. Her love for her brother, son, daughter- in- law, grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews is unsurpassed.
Visitation will be at Zoeller Funeral Home in New Braunfels from 12PM to 8PM Sunday. Funeral services will be held at 10AM on Tuesday , September 7 at the Zoeller Funeral Home with interment at 11:45 at the Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to The Unicorn Center, care of Mission Road Ministries in San Antonio.
When we have done all the work we were sent to do,
we are allowed to shed our bodies,
which imprisons our soul like a cocoon encloses the butterfly
and when the time is right we can let go of it.
Then we will be free of pain, free of fears and free of worries--
free as a beautiful butterfly returning home to God....
