Mary Lou was a resident of Texas for 35 years. She worked in the cafeteria at Navarro High School for 14 years, until all her grandchildren graduated, then she retired. She loved to play board and card games. She had a wonderful sense of humor; for example, like sewing Bill’s pant legs closed; she would also switch the labels on all the can goods before his big hunting trip, so he wasn’t sure if he was getting peaches or chili and by putting a green paper towel in place of lettuce on his sandwiches that she made him to take to work. She loved to laugh and did it often, she had every bed made (not to say that they were short sheeted), dinner on the table by 5:00 p. m. and the dished were washed every evening.
She is survived by her sister Blanche Gotthardt; daughter, Deanna King, daughter, Brenda Herzog and husband Russell; granddaughter, Kimberlee King and fiancé Chris Schultze; grandson, Darren Herzog; grandson, Aaron King and fiancé Lisa Bohmfalk; grandson, Cooper Herzog; brother-in-law Charlie Dean and wife Etta June and numerous nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband William (Bill) Dean; parents, Joseph and Mary Karl; brothers, Vernon, Bobby, Joe and Sonny Karl; brother-in-law, Donald “Spider” Gotthardt and in-laws, Bill and Dot Dean.
Her family and friends are mourning her death, however they have many happy memories of her and they will be celebrating her life for many years to come.
A Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, February 26, 2011 at 11:00 a. m. at Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
