Mateo Caballero Jr., known to other truckers as “Kumbia King”, passed away on January 10, 2014 at Christus Santa Rosa Hospital in New Braunfels. He was born to Mateo Caballero Sr. and Guadalupe (Martinez) Caballero on October 6, 1946 in New Braunfels.
Mateo is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Rosa F. Caballero; son, Mateo Caballero III and wife Flo; daughter, Corina C. Murray; grandchildren, Mateo Isaiah Caballero, Jasmine Caballero, and Serena Murray; mother, Guadalupe Caballero; brother, Juan (Pete) Caballero and wife Olga; sisters, Gloria Caballero, Juana (Gina) King and husband David, and Mary Reyna. He was also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A visitation will take place on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 4 to 9 p.m. at Zoeller Funeral Home, with a rosary being held at 7 p.m.. Visitation will continue on Thursday, January 16, 2014 from 8 a.m. until 12 noon.
