Melvin Gilbert Lohse

MSgt. Melvin G. Lohse, USAF Ret., 76, of New Braunfels, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at the Wilford Hall Medical Center. Melvin was born in Floresville, Texas on October 13, 1933. He married Betty Counts on April 18, 1959 in Walnut Ridge, AR. He proudly served in the United States Air Force and retired after 24 years. After his retirement from the Air Force he worked in Maintenance for Boysville, Inc. He was a member of New Braunfels Christian Church where he was very active in building maintenance and other projects. He was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans Organization.

He is survived by his loving wife of 51 years, Betty Lohse; daughter, Theresa Werley; grandchildren, Ryan Werley, Sarah Cabrera and husband Jeremy; great-grandson, Brayden Cabrera; sisters, Lola Schneider and Vera Schneider.

Public visitation will begin 9:30 AM Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until service time. Funeral Services will be held 11:30 AM Wednesday, September 1, 2010 at the Zoeller Funeral Home with Reverend Doug Gibson officiating . Interment will follow in Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be given to New Braunfels Christian Church.
