Nancy Louise Hudnall Ray, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister passed into her Savior’s arms on August 17, 2010 after a six year battle with brain cancer. Nancy was born on October 25, 1942 to Benjamin Newton & G. Faye Hudnall in Sherman, Texas and lived most of her married life in Hobbs, New Mexico. She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Beth. She is survived by her beloved husband of 48 years, Dr. James Robert (Bob) Ray of New Braunfels; her son, Dr. Brad Ray, his wife Tasha, and son, Zach of New Braunfels; and her daughter, Dr. Deena Liles, her husband, Louis, and sons, Luke, Hayden, and Ian of New Braunfels. She is also survived by her brothers: Duncan Hudnall and wife Linda of Robertsdale, Alabama; and Bobby Hudnall and wife Debbie of Southlake, Texas. She had many more family members and friends that loved her immensely. Nancy graduated from Clovis High School in Clovis, New Mexico and attended Eastern New Mexico University (ENMU) in Portales, New Mexico where she earned an Associates Degree in Business in 1962. She met her husband Bob while in college and they married on January 27, 1962. While Bob attended Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, Nancy gave birth to their son, Robert Bradley Ray. Stationed in Jacksonville, Fl, and while in the Navy, Nancy gave birth to their daughter Deena Michele Ray. Nancy and Bob lived in Hobbs, New Mexico for more than 30 years until eventually moving to the San Antonio area to be near their children and their families. Nancy spent the majority of her years at home raising her two children. However, once they had completed college, Nancy herself returned to graduate school to complete her Masters in Counseling at ENMU. She completely loved that Lord and was always active in her church life and loved her church family. The complete joys of her life were her four grandchildren Luke, Hayden, and Ian Liles, and Zach Ray. She was a faithful servant of the Lord, an extraordinary wife, loving mother and grandmother, and a friend that lent a helping hand and offered a smile that could light up a room of darkness. She will be missed by all who knew, loved, adored, and respected her. “She looketh well to the ways of her household, and eateth not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up and call her blessed; her husband [also], and he praiseth her.” Proverbs 31:27-28. As the family, we would like to extend thanks to all to the friends that prayed for Mom and extended their loving hands during this difficult transition. Pat…for all of her loving care and tenderness during Mom’s illness, Hope Hospice, and Angels for Elders were a blessing to all of us; your kindness and love is genuinely appreciated. A Memorial Service will be held Friday, August 27, 2010 at 11:00 a. m., at Park Hills Baptist Church; located at 17747 San Pedro Ave., San Antonio, Texas 78232.
