

Preston Wayne Daniel of New Braunfels, TX passed away Jan. 26, 2014. He was born in Ralls, TX on July 21st, 1950 to Edna and Cecil Daniel. After high school, he entered the U.S. Army where he served in Germany and achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. While there, he also completed the 8th Infantry Division Airborne School and earned the National Defense Service Medal, parachutist badge, expert rifle, good conduct medal, and other commendations for services benefitting locals. After his stint in the army he married Marilyn Charlene Derrick on October 2, 1972. He was a master carpenter whose work can be seen on many landmark buildings in Texas, including Fiesta Texas and Cornerstone Church in San Antonio.
Preston was a much loved and respected father, brother, husband and friend who will be sorely missed. He was predeceased by his parents, brother Euel Wilson Daniel, brother Gary Truman Daniel, sister Della Mae Hobbs, brothers in law Jerry Derrick and James Keith and father in law Earl Walker. He is survived by two children, Stacy Lee Johnson of Houston and Brandon Wayne Daniel of New Braunfels, and two grandchildren, Jordan Johnson of Houston, a recent graduate of LSU and Johnathan Johnson, who currently attends the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. He is also survived by three sisters; Virginia Evans of Pueblo, CO, Ada McCutcheon of Hereford, TX, and Norma Moore of Crowley, TX, mother in law Rosa Walker, sisters in law Linda Keith and Kay Roberson, and three brothers; Floyd “Buck” Daniel and Delton Daniel, both of Lubbock and Lynn Daniel of Elgin, TX.
A memorial service will be held at Zoeller Funeral Home, New Braunfels, TX on Friday, Jan 31, 2014 at 2:00 PM.
