

Rachael Elsie Meyer, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend passed away at the age of 90 in the early morning hours of April 16, 2016 into the loving arms of our Lord to join her devoted husband, Julius J. Meyer (deceased January 14, 2000). Rachael was born on February 14, 1926 to Raphael and Esther Emery in Spaulding, Nebraska. She had 4 brothers: Gene, Leo, Harold and Ronnie Emery. Rachael met her husband, Julius J. Meyer, while he was in the Air Force stationed near her hometown. They married on July 25, 1945 in Grand Island, Nebraska.
Rachael was a dutiful Air Force wife moving to 14 different states and an overseas assignment in England over the span of 18 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a dear friend to many in the New Braunfels community where she and her husband Julius, retired and enjoyed Bridge groups, his Lion’s Club Activities and the church community of Sts. Peter and Paul.
Rachael was a woman of deep faith and commitment to her family, friends, and church. She volunteered at the thrift store of Sts. Peter and Paul and was an active member of the Divine Mercy Community. She was a gifted homemaker, seamstress, decorator and cook.
The family is eternally grateful to her son, Gerald Meyer and his wife Rose, who provided a home with loving caregivers the last years of her life. The family would like to acknowledge these loving and skilled angels of mercy from whom she received compassionate care: Carmen, Abby, Nancy, Mary Lou, Lupe, Alyssa, Nina, Mary, Felicia, Cathy, Kristina, Mary and especially Kim, Maria, Mary Jane and Rose Meyer who were with her the longest.
Rachael is survived by her 5 sons: Thomas Meyer, Gerald Meyer and his wife, Rose, John Meyer and his wife, Carol, Anthony (Tony) Meyer, and James Meyer, and her (3) daughters: Kathleen Martin and her husband, Ralph, Margaret Mary Duke and her husband, Paul, and Ann Marie Sweetwood.
She leaves behind her 18 grandchildren: David, Natalie, and Sara (Kathleen), Zachary (Thomas), Raymond, Matthew (Gerald), John Paul, Matthew (John), Joel (deceased), Emery, and Elle (Tony), Nathan, Nicole, and Justin (Margaret), and James (James), and Shane (deceased), Logan and Gavin (Ann).
She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren: Nicholas, Isabel and Amelie (Kathleen), Jasper, and Sophia (Zachary), Aaron and Cori (Gerald), Everett and McKayla, Molly, Carmelita, and Mckenzie Marie (Margaret).
A Rosary will be held on Wednesday, April 20, 2016 at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St., New Braunfels, Texas at 7:00 pm with viewing from 5 pm to 9 pm.
A mass of the resurrection will be held at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church at 1:00 pm on Thursday, April 21, 2016. Entombment will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Mausoleum on Common Street following Mass.
