

Raymundo Acevedo Garza, age 74, of New Braunfels, Texas passed away on Monday, December 27, 2021. Raymundo was born September 19, 1947 in Sabinas Hidalgo, Nuevo León, Mexico to Raymundo Chapa Garza and Leandra Acevedo Garza.
Raymond proudly served his country for 4 years in the Air Force and 14 years in the Army National Guard. Raymundo worked his way through college, earning his degree in Business Administration from Southwest Texas University in San Marcos, Texas. He worked hard so his daughters got their education as well. His biggest joy was his daughters and grandchildren. He loved them unconditionally. He worked for AT&T for 30 years until his retirement in 2010. He was a member of the Communications Workers of America and in previous years served as a Grand Knight with the Knights of Columbus Council 8036 Elmendorf-Saspamco, Texas. Raymond was always very active, walking 5 miles a day and playing golf, until his health started to decline over the last 3 years.
Raymond is preceded in death by his parents, infant son Raymond Garza III and infant grandson Henry Allen Strever.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 49 years Lydia Garza, daughter, Monica Renee Nettle and her husband Justin Nettle of Portland, Oregon and daughter Danielle Marie Strever and her husband Richard Strever of Austin, Texas; granddaughter Elise Renee Nettle and grandson Rylan Douglas Nettle of Portland, Oregon; brother Jose and his wife Lupe Garza of Surprise, Arizona, brother Brigido and his wife Alma Garza of Odessa, TX and sister Guadalupe and her husband Gilbert Abundis of San Antonio, Texas.
A public viewing and visitation for Raymond will be held Thursday, January 6, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A holy rosary will occur Thursday, January 6, 2022 at 7:00 PM, 615 Landa St, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A holy mass w/ army honors will occur Friday, January 7, 2022 at 10:00 AM at Holy Family Catholic Church, 245 S Hidalgo Ave, New Braunfels, Texas 78130. A reception will occur Friday, January 7, 2022 from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM at Knights of Columbus, 111 Landa St, New Braunfels, TX. Inurnment will take place at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78209 at a later date.
