Ruth Amalia Kissman McKee

Ruth A. McKee passed away Tuesday, November 4, at the age of 90. She was born on January 20, 1924 to the German farming family of Albert and Bertha Kissman near Manheim, Texas. Ruth had four sisters (Ann, Ida, Olga and Edna) and two brothers (Richard and Bill)

The family lived in Rivera, Texas for a brief time before moving to Austin, where Ruth graduated from Austin High in 1942. She worked for Southwestern Bell during WWII and again later in life. After the war she married H.L. McKee in 1945. They had two children

Due to her husband’s job the family lived in various Texas cities. The couple retired to Seguin in 1984. After her husband’s death in 1992 Ruth moved to Gruene where she was an active member of her community and Cross Lutheran Church. She is preceded in death by her parents and siblings. Ruth is survived by her children - daughter, Suzan King of Corpus Christi, TX; son, Larry McKee and wife Sally of Buda, TX; brother, Bill Kissman of Austin, TX; granddaughters, Elizabeth Hull and husband Brian and Catherine King; great-grandchildren, William and Charlotte Hull.

Ruth lived a full, happy life devoted to God and family and friends until her last year of failing health. She loved reading, gardening, watching sports (particularly the Houston Astros and the San Antonio Spurs). Ruth was a wonderful mother and will be truly missed.

Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Friday at Zoeller Funeral Home and continue until 8:00 PM. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, November 8, 2014 at Cross Lutheran Church with Reverend Don Fraker officiating. Interment will follow at 3:30 PM in Cook Walden Capital Parks Cemetery in Pflugerville, Texas. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to Cross Lutheran Church New Braunfels.
