Sandra Lee Morales-Herrera
December 31, 1967 – July 6, 2025
With profound sadness and overflowing love, we announce the passing of our beloved sister, wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, and friend, Sandra Lee Morales-Herrera. Sandra departed this life on July 6, 2025, at the age of 57, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, compassion, and deep love for her family and community.
Born on December 31, 1967, Sandra was the cherished eldest daughter of Francisco and Agripina Morales. As the oldest of six siblings, she embraced her role with pride and care, often described as the “mother hen,” always looking out for her brothers and sisters with a warm heart and a guiding hand.
Sandra was the devoted wife of Jose Herrera, whom she married in 1998. Their love story was one of true partnership, filled with laughter, devotion, and unshakable support. Sandra was endlessly proud of her five children: Carlos Morales and his wife Laura of Maxwell, Texas; Aaron Herrera; Claudio Herrera of New Braunfels, Texas; Ana Herrera of Port Arthur, Texas; and Graciela Herrera of New Braunfels, Texas. Her love and pride extended deeply to her four beautiful grandchildren—Xiomara, Alex, Arlo, and Avery—each of whom brought immense joy to her heart.
Sandra was a 1986 graduate of San Diego High School. From a young age, she demonstrated a deeply rooted servant’s heart, which guided her throughout her life. She worked for many years as a nursing assistant at EdenHill Nursing Home in New Braunfels, where her compassion and care made a lasting impact on her elderly residents. So profound was her connection to her work that when she married Jose, two of her beloved residents stood by her side as matrons of honor.
Later, Sandra found her calling once again in service—this time with the New Braunfels Independent School District. There, she worked with children with special needs, nurturing not only the students but also forming heartfelt relationships with their families. Her joy, patience, and dedication radiated through every life she touched.
When Sandra was able she was an active member of New Generations Fellowship and loved participating in her bible study life group with her friends she named The Golden Girls. Her faith was a quiet, steady force in her life, fueling her kindness and her strength. She had a passion for collecting Mexican pottery, especially the colorful and intricate Lupita dolls. Her love for family extended to the thousands of photos she joyfully took at gatherings, capturing every smile and every moment that brought her joy.
Sandra is survived by her parents, Francisco and Agripina Morales; her husband, Jose Herrera; her children and grandchildren; her sisters: Mireya Gonzalez, Elizabeth Morales-Escobedo (husband Mike), and Milly Morales; and her brothers: David Morales and Manuel Morales (wife Zayda). She also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends whose lives were brighter because of her.
In recent years, as she faced physical challenges with strength and grace, Sandra focused her care on her parents—never one to stop giving, never one to let love rest. Always smiling, always singing, always present—Sandra lived her life with fullness, warmth, and joy. She loved life, and life loved her right back.
Sandra's absence will be felt deeply, but her love remains a light that will never fade. She was truly one of a kind—a beautiful soul who dedicated her life to the service of others, the joy of family, and the art of living fully. She will be missed beyond words.
In honor of Sandra’s joyful spirit and her love of vibrant colors, the family asks that guests attending the services wear bright and beautiful colors instead of traditional black. Sandra adored the bold hues of her beloved Mexican pottery and Lupita dolls, and we want to celebrate her life the way she lived it—full of light, love, and color.
A public visitation and viewing for Sandra will be held Monday, July 14, 2025 from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa St., New Braunfels, TX 78130. A funeral service will occur Tuesday, July 15, 2025 at 2:00 PM at New Generations Fellowship, New Braunfels, TX 78130.
