Stephanie Jean (Horton) Madzy

Mrs. Stephanie J. Madzy, 60, of New Braunfels, passed away unexpectedly on February 23, 2026. Born on April 11, 1965, in Concord, California, she was the daughter of Donald G. Horton and Elizabeth Mae Soloman. Stephanie moved to Texas with her family at the age of seven and spent her youth just north of Houston.

A proud Texan, Stephanie graduated from Aldine High School before attending Texas A&M University in College Station. She later transferred to the University of Houston, where she earned her bachelor’s degree. Stephanie enjoyed a distinguished career in finance and banking spanning over 30 years, eventually retiring in 2019 as a Senior Manager from Credit Human to devote her time to caring for her extended family.

Stephanie will be remembered as a woman who was always prepared and deeply present. She was the bedrock of her family, known for rising to any challenge with grace—even if that challenge was a potentially disruptive fashion trend. To those who knew her, having Stephanie on your team meant a winning outcome, or a perfect outfit, was a given.

Stephanie is survived by her husband, Michael S. Madzy; her son, Charles Wesley Madzy; her brother, Anthony Horton; her sister, Angela Batty; and her beloved dog, Jeaux. Stephanie was preceded in death by her father, Donald G. Horton; her mother, Elizabeth M. (Soloman) Browning; and her brother, Paul Michael Horton.

A funeral service will be held at 12:00 PM on April 18th at Zoeller Funeral Home, 615 Landa Street, New Braunfels.
