Talmage Allen “Jack” Kirkpatrick was born in Luling, Texas on May 5, 1930 and was raised in Houston and Mission, TX. He passed away on July 19, 2016. Jack received his BA degree from A&I University and became a proxy AGGIE. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps and served in combat during the Korean War.
After the war he worked in the oil business with his family and then for several city administrations including Edinburg, Corpus Christi, Denton and Katy, TX. He then returned to McAllen where he built several houses and opened his own real estate office. He served as president of the McAllen Board of Realtors in 1978.
After retiring from real estate, Jack and his wife, Beverly moved to New Braunfels and fell in love with its beautiful German community. They have stayed active in the community and cultivated many friends who remember him as fun, talented, witty, and always creative.
With a God given talent, he carved wooden ducks, birds, fish, and owls. All were one of a kind. Recently he began carving “Spirit Houses”, each with its own design, bringing a great sense of joy.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents Willie Hugh and Irene Kirkpatrick, two brothers, and two sisters. He is survived by his wife Beverly, his extremely smart and talented dog, B. Bear, and many nieces and nephews. Many friends helped him through a long, hard fought battle with a rare disease of Myasthenia Gravis. Jack gave his all in everything he did in life and was a good, strong, loving man. He was always kind, gentle and caring.
The Kirkpatrick family would like to thank those who helped us so much during the past few years. We appreciate the doctors and nurses at N.E. Methodist Hospital, the great team at Encompass Health Care, and our own Hope Hospice who provided the comfort and care to the family during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, friends are asked to donate to Hope Hospice.
A Private Service to be held at a later date in Luling.
