Virgil P Schumann, 75, of Marion, Texas, passed away on May 7, 2021 at the Northeast Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX. He was born to Milton Schumann and Alice Borchers Schumann in New Braunfels, Texas on June 22nd 1945. He was a mighty Unicorn graduate of New Braunfels High School. Shortly after he was drafted in the US Army and served his country in the 11th CAV Blackhorse during the Vietnam War. During his service he met many great men and formed special bonds to last a lifetime.Virgil Schumann married Arlene Hackbarth from 1966 to 1979 and they had a daughter, Deborah in 1969. He later married Wanda Knox in 1982 and became a father to three more; Evonne, Kimberly, and Bryan. After an honorable discharge in 1967, Virgil worked as a mechanic at Southern Pacific Railroad and later became a fireman at Alamo Heights Fire Department in San Antonio, where he later retired. Virgil still kept busy working at Metro Ambulance as a mechanic. Virgil P Schumann was an amazing man, anyone who was lucky enough to have just met him would instantly know his kindness and warm heart. He was a man of great wisdom, sharp wit, strength, and to so many a hero. Virgil will live in our hearts for eternity and will be deeply missed.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda Schumann; daughter, Debbie Lehmann, daughter, Kimberly Rodriguez; son, Bryan Schumann; sister, Arleene Council; grandchildren, Aubrey, Brittney, Tristan, Savannah, Zaina, Bryana, Ethan, Amber, Andrew, Tamara, Tabitha, Krystal, and Harley. He was preceded in death by his parents; and daughter, Evonne Hale
Public Visitation will begin 5:00 PM Monday at Zoeller Funeral Home and will continue until 8:00 PM. A Funeral Service will be held 10:00 AM Tuesday, May 18, 2021 at Zoeller Funeral Home with interment to follow in Guadalupe Valley Memorial Park.
