

Wes Shelton, 60, of Buda, Texas, passed away on Thursday, October 21, 2021, in Austin, Texas. He was born August 3, 1961, in Texas City, Texas and he was a 1979 graduate of John Foster Dulles High School in Sugar Land, Texas. After graduating from high school, he joined the United States Air Force, doing his basic training at Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas and served in Saudi Arabia.
Wes spent over 25 years in food service graduating from Culinary School in Austin. Culinary competitions around Texas and woodworking were things he enjoyed. Littlefield Patio Café and Cypress Bend Café were the food establishments he worked for at the University of Texas. He enjoyed serving and making friends with the athletes and meeting recruits and their families.
Wes was a huge University of Texas fan. He often told people when they commented on his large collection of Longhorn attire, that he bled burnt orange. Very important to him was supporting the Lady Longhorn Volleyball Team and Lady Longhorn Basketball Team. He was known by the fuzzy burnt orange and white baseball cap that he wore.
Predeceased by his mother, Rebekah Marie Whitlock, his father, Norman Wesley Shelton, his father-in-law, Ben Smith and as he referred to them as his four-legged children, Jam and Jelly.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Vickie Smith, mother-in-law, Jo Ann Smith, sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Patti and Randy Sanders, niece, Jenn Sanders and nephew, Eric Sanders.
Pursuant to his wishes, he will be cremated and there will be no services. Blue Santa held a special place in his heart since his father-in-law, Ben Smith, served many years as Blue Santa for the New Braunfels Police Dept.
