

Adrienne Wickenden Kozlowski, PhD, age 84, passed away on March 31, 2026 in New Britain, Connecticut. She was born April 26, 1941, in Park Ridge, New Jersey, the daughter of the late, Arthur and Jane (Walker) Wickenden. She grew up in North Bennington, Vermont.
In her early years, she played piano and flute, and was in the school band. She loved being a Girl Scout.
She earned her Bachelor degree at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, Illinois. She then went onto the University of Connecticut to earn her Masters and Doctoral degrees in chemistry. She enjoyed a long career, empowering her students in her specialty, inorganic chemistry. She attended numerous American Chemical Society and Biennial Conference on Chemical Education meetings she taught at Central Connecticut State University for 27 years before retiring.
Besides her academic pursuits, Adrienne enjoyed a wide range of activities. She loved to travel. She spent a year in Denmark. She also traveled to Israel and Italy, took numerous trips to Greece and the Caribbean, where she took up snorkeling, free, diving, and scuba diving. On one of her numerous American Chemical Society meetings her brother in California, convinced her and her husband to meet the week before in Reno for the hot air balloon festival, where serendipity came into play and they hooked up with a balloon and became part of the crew and we’re with them for 17 years in a row.
Adrienne is survived by her husband, John A. Kozlowski, her brother Christopher and his wife Judy, her brother Jim and his partner Jerry, niece Jill, nephews Ken,Todd and Travis, and their children, sisters-in-law Nancy and Joanne.
She was predeceased by her brother David.
Adrienne will be remembered for her kindness and her lifelong commitment to chemical education. Her legacy lives on through the many students she empowered.
She will be dearly missed.
Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Friday, April 10 from 11am-3pm. Burial will be at the convenience of the family.
