Alan Barry Stolarun, 81, passed away on Tuesday, May 6, 2025, after a long illness. Alan was surrounded and enveloped in love by his family as he passed. Alan was born on February 24, 1944, the second son of Edward H. Stolarun and Helen (Kochanik) Stolarun. He was a lifelong resident of New Britain, where he attended local schools, graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas High School in 1962. Alan graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a dual Bachelor of Science in marketing and accounting. Alan joined the U.S Army at the start of the Vietnam War, and three years later returned home with an honorable discharge, and became a member of the Disabled American Veterans Organization for the remainder of his life.
Alan worked in various industries, retiring from the Federal Government as a U.S. Treasury Agent with the IRS.. In retirement, Alan became an avid golfer who honed his game primarily at the Pequabuck Golf Club. There he recorded seven holes in one. He was also active at Stanley Golf in New Britain, where he will be acknowledged and remembered on their recognition clock. Alan had many other interests, including photography, which resulted in a travel photo contest win and a book cover. In addition, he had a passion for travel, mostly in Mexico and Central America. Alan loved his sports cars; he maintained a proud collection of Spyder convertibles, driving them through country roads, especially enjoying the Fall foliage.
Alan was a true animal advocate. Besides monetarily giving, he rescued and loved several dogs throughout the years, leaving behind his 'bodyguard', Jasper, and little Miss Lola.
Alan leaves behind the love of his life and caregiver, Patricia Burris, and her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who adopted Alan as their own: Cynthia Torres and her husband Edwin, Deborah Oliveira and her husband Jeff, Susan Burris, Amy Goode (James), Jordan Torres, Arden Thomas, Michael Torres, Erin Torres (Hegarty), Brianna Burris-Wiggins, Jason Oliveira, Xavier Goode, Quentin Goode, Parker, Cameron, and Carter Torres, Ivy Torres.
Alan's surviving family members are brother Edward L. Stolarun and his wife Elizabeth (Bette) Stolarun, his niece Melissa M. Blazic and her husband Andrew C. Blazic, and their children Grant E. Blazic and Clara S. Blazic.
Alan was predeceased by his mother Helen (Kochanik) Stolarun, his father, Edward H. Stolarun, and brother, Lance Corporal Richard R. Stolarun.
We, his family, cannot express in one statement how much he meant to us, or the man he was. Alan was a true soldier in every manner, fighting up until his last breath. We really did surround him with every ounce of love, holding him, as Jesus welcomed him home.
