Anna Stohmal

Anna (Bedoski) Stohmal, 97, of Academy Street in Southington, died January 4, 2011 at Brittany Farms Health Care Center, New Britain. Born in Larksville, Pennsylvania on January 10, 1913, she was the daughter of the late John and Katerine (Kapala) Bedoski and the widow of Adolph A. Stohmal who died in 1986.

Before moving to Connecticut in 1937, she was educated in the Larksville school system, graduating High School Class of 1931. She also attended E. Stroudsburg State Teacher's College in PA and was a communicant of St. John's Church, Nesbeth, St. Larksville, PA.

Prior to her retirement from the State of Connecticut in 1979, she worked for 15 years as a secretary in teh Election's Division of the Secretary of the State under Ella Grasso, Barbara Kennelly and Amalia (Molly) Toro. Preceding her time at the State, she worked 18 years for Landers, Frary and Clark in New Britain in their purchasing department under the supervision of Ed Weigand and Guy Marshall. She was also an auxiliary nurse at New Britain General Hospital.

Anna was a member of Holy Cross Church of New Britain and of the Calendar House in Southington. She enjoyed gardening, photography and ballroom dancing.

She is survived by her son, Allen J. Stohmal of Southington; grandson, Glen A. Stohmal and wife Patsy of Southington, granddaughters; Lisa Carroll and husband Ray and Janet Medler and husband Carles, all of Florida, great grandchildren: Deven and Alexis Stohmal of Southington and Roni Maria Lowry, Richard Medler and Ryan Medler, all of Florida and many nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Stohmal is predeceased by one brother, Anthony Bedoski, one sister, Viola Dragan, half sister, Julia Scomons Boroski, half brothers; Walter and Zigmund Scomons, sister-in-law, Mary Stohmal Bogovic of Berlin and her dear step-father, Charles Romanowski.

Services with visitation will be Thursday, January 6, 2011 from 5-7pm, with a Prayer Service at 6:00pm at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain. Burial will be private. For online condolences please see attached link.
