Barbara P. Lucas

Barbara (Malachowski) Lucas, 83, of New Britain passed away after a long illness on Monday, September 19, 2022. Barbara was born in New Britain to Joseph and Caroline (Rurak) Malachowski. She was employed as an office manager by The New Britain Herald, retiring after 35 years of service. She was a parishioner of Holy Cross Church. Barbara will be remembered for her love of travel, but even more, her love of family. Having no children of her own, she helped raise her 3 nieces Josephine, Patricia, and Sonya after their mother passed away when they were only 6,4, and 1. She is predeceased by her loving husband Andrew. She is survived by her brother Richard and his wife Ann of Homosassa, Florida. She was beloved by all of her numerous nieces and nephews and will be sorely missed. Barbara was predeceased by her brothers Joseph and Carl, and sisters Lottie and Dorothy. It is requested that donations in Barbara’s name be made to the American Cancer Society or CT Hospice. “You fought the battle long and hard, Auntie. Now Rest In Peace. We love you."

Calling hours for Barbara will be held Monday, October 10, 2022 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. A prayer service will occur Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11:00 AM at New Britain Memorial & Donald D. Sargarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave, New Britain, Connecticut 06053. A burial in sacred heart cemetery will occur Monday, October 10, 2022 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Cemetery, 662 Burritt St, New Britain, Connecticut 06053.
