Bruce Janus, 69, passed away on January 3, 2022 after a long illness. In his final days he was surrounded by family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father Walter Janus and his mother Genevieve (Gierula) Janus. He is survived by his brother John, sister-in-law Susan, a nephew William Janus, an aunt and many cousins. Bruce remained close friends with his ex-wife Denise Stevens, who continued to bring a smile to his face in his final days.
Bruce was a graduate of St. Thomas Aquinas high school class of 1971. He earned an Associate’s degree in Criminal Justice from Tunxis Community College and worked as a patrolman for the New Britain Police Department retiring in 2005.
Bruce loved to travel. He toured many parts of the United States, Europe, Asia and went on several ocean cruises. Prior to his illness he was planning a train trip across the United States. Bruce was an accomplished marksman and lifetime member of the NRA. He was a ravenous reader of history and science fiction, a chess player and a Star Trek fan.
Calling Hours will be at 11:00 a.m. with Funeral Home Prayer Services following @ 12:00 p.m. to be held on Saturday, January 22, 2022.
Repass Reception will be held immediately after prayer services next door at the New Britain Memorial - Donald D. Sagarino Event Center.
