

Carmela “Lina” Cialfi, 78, wife of Andrea Cialfi since 1958, of Plainville, passed away unexpectedly on September 26, 2012 at New Britain General Hospital. Carmela was born Nov. 11, 1934 in Floridia, Sicily to the late Salvatore Giarratana and Concetta (Indomenico) Giarratana previously residing in Floridia, Sicily before settling in New Britain, CT.
Mrs. Cialfi was employed by Colts and Emhart retiring in 1988. She was a parishioner of St. Ann Church. She adored her passion for cooking, donating her time and exquisite culinary skills to benefit many charities: Lea’s Leukemia Foundation, Arthritis Foundation, MS, the Diabetes Foundation, Les Chef Femmes, and S.O.S. – Share our Strength.
She enjoyed family, cooking, traveling and spent most of her time with her family, baking and sharing herself with everyone. She will be most remembered for her endless energy and giving spirit.
Besides her beloved husband Andrea, Carmela is survived by her 2 sons: Celestino “Dino” Cialfi, of Canton, and Salvatore Cialfi and his wife Jackie of Berlin, her 2 daughters: Rosa Rocco and her husband Joseph of Plainville, and Tina Autunno and her husband Peter of Plainville, 1 brother: Sebastian Giarratana and his wife Josephine of New Britain, 4 sisters: Maria Perreault of Southington, Tina Bordonaro of Newington, Lucy Ciarcia and her husband Paul of Rocky Hill and Lidia Onisto and her husband Joseph of New Britain and brother in law; Silvano Cialfi. Carmela will also be dearly missed by her 10 grandchildren: Samantha (Cialfi) Maglio, Ashley, Isabella and Olivia Cialfi, Jacob & Alyssa Rocco, Andrew, Anthony, Alexander and Vanessa Autunno, and many special nieces and nephews, dear friends, neighbors and special pets: a dog Jasmine (Jazzy) (deceased), Kona and Sugar.
She was also pre-deceased by, Sebastian Bordonaro, Dennis Perrault, Mary and Luigi Cipriani, Ronald Perreault, Pepe and Paula Crisciotti, Angela and Alberto Abrusca, Settimio Cialfi, Amelia Cialfi and Ines and Pietro DiNicola.

Funeral services will begin Monday, October 1st, 2012 at 8:30am at the New Britain Memorial Donald D. Sagarino Funeral Home, 444 Farmington Ave., New Britain followed by the funeral liturgy at 9:30am in St. Joseph’s Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
