

Charles Marion Hardy Sr., 85, of New Britain went to glory on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at The Hospital of Central Connecticut after a long illness. Charles was born in Selma, Alabama, February 9, 1930, and was the son of the late Holsey and Fannie (Pope) Hardy. Charles relocated to Mobile Alabama with his family. He graduated from Central High School in Mobile. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force where he excelled as an Aircraft Instrument Specialist. He was in one of the first integrated units. He served tours in Germany and several stateside locations and attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Charles settled in Connecticut and worked as a machinist for, North & Judd and Stanley Works. He also worked in the Shipping and Receiving Departments of Summit Corporation, and Dougherty Drugs. His final places of employment were Emhart and Burns Security before he fully retired. He was a hardworking man often carrying two jobs. He loved the Lord, his family, working in the yard, golf and his music, especially Ray Charles.
Charles leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 51 years Electa (Gohagon) Hardy, sisters-in-law, Bonnie Pina, Marion Hardy, Gertie Hardy, brothers-in Law, Jessie Wells and Douglas Pina; son Charles M. Hardy Jr., daughters Sandra (Hardy) Clayton, Harriet (Hardy) Green, Karen (Hardy) Senteio, Angela Hardy, Sybil Hardy, Leslie (Hardy) Saxton, Carla Hardy, Shani (Hardy) Littles, devoted Sons/Daughter-in-law, Andre Senteio, Richard Saxton, David Littles, and Vanessa (King) Hardy and stepchildren Preston Berry and Cathy Grice. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and extended family. Charles was predeceased by his brothers Holsey Jr., James, George, Herman (Virginia), and his beloved sister Sybil (Hardy) Butler.
Funeral services will be on Monday, October 19, 2015 with visitation from 11:00 AM to 12:00PM at St. James Missionary Baptist Church 45 Daly Ave. New Britain, followed by funeral service at 12:00 PM at the church with military honors following service.
Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
